which software do you recommend for hosting...linux or windows? godaddy.com informed me that most php & mysql programs runs faster using linux... |

linux or windows? WHM/cPanel makes things easiest but I want to ask, if someone have a server without any control panel but only ssh and ftp what are the basic steps to do after the Os installation (CentOs - Debian - Ubuntu etc.) ?
I know that must installed IonCube Loader - MemCache - MySQLi - Zip, there is any other additive that must be installed on the server for security or something else? |

There is anything else about security of server? for example: disable_functions CODE: escapeshellarg,escapeshellcmd,exec,ini_alter,parse_ini_file,passthru,pcntl_exec,popen,proc_close,proc_get_status,proc_nice,proc_open,pro c_terminate,show_source,shell_exec,symlink,system or something else? |

here is the a few security tips: - Use different FTP and SSH port. - Do not install any thirty part script. - Always use recent stable and secure version of: PHP, Apache, MySQL and TSUE. - Make sure that your server is up-to-date. Cause for admins is this the fastest AND easiest way to run a web server. All is running out of the box. The only thing you have to do is: 1. Start mysql and apache ( you can do this about YaST ) 2. open port 80 in firewall Thats it regards Friseer |
